The Illusion Trail · Stop 5

Cloak of Invisibility

Drape yourself in the green cloak, open the app, and watch whatever it covers fade clean away. Drift through a telephone box or a Narnia lamp and leave no trace.

A red telephone box stands beside a black Victorian lamp post in the lush green woodland at Cedar Hollow. These are the two magical backgrounds available in the Cloak of Invisibility app.

Download the App

The Cloak of Invisibility runs entirely through our app. Without it, the cloak is just a green cape. Install it first, then everything else is play.

Once the app is installed

Three steps to vanish

The cloak in your rental is a deep, even green. The app removes every pixel of that green from your photo and replaces it with the background of your choosing. What the cloak covers, the camera no longer sees.

1

Find the cloak

There's a green cloak waiting in your rental. Drape it over whoever, or whatever, you want to make invisible.

2

Pick a background

Choose between the Oxford Telephone Box and the Narnia Lamp Post. The app will drop you straight into the scene.

3

Strike a pose

Follow the app's framing guide and take the photo. Anything the cloak covers disappears, and the magic appears in its place.

A little about it

Green-screen magic

It's the same trick film studios have been using for decades. The technique is called chroma keying: the camera locks onto one very specific colour and replaces every pixel of that colour with something else.

The cloak is a flat, even shade of green that doesn't appear anywhere else in the scene. The app finds that green, removes it, and stitches the chosen background into the gap.

Hold the cloak in front of yourself, and you're carrying a small window into another world.

More wonders ahead

Each stop on the trail is a different illusion. Follow the path through the trees, and don't forget to take a photo at every one.
